Wrinkle Reduction
Wrinkles occur most frequently in areas exposed to the sun, such as the face and back of the hands. Over time the skin becomes thinner, drier and less elastic. Ultimately, this results in either fine lines or deep furrows. In addition to sun exposure, premature aging of the skin is associated with smoking, heredity and skin type (higher incidence among people with fair hair, blue eyes, and light skin).
A number of treatments exist for wrinkle improvement. Dr. Oshman offers the following treatment suggestions
Face
- Sunscreen should be used daily to prevent future wrinkling formation.
- Retin-A formulations should be applied at night to help reduce fine lines and stimulate collagen formation.
- Moisturizers should be applied after the bath or shower to help reduce dry skin.
Dr. Oshman performs the following cosmetic procedures to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
- Chemical peels - lunchtime (no downtime) and deep (one week downtime)
- Fillers
- Botox
Back of Hands
Dr. Oshman uses a combination of chemical peels and fillers to give the hands a youthful appearance.
Remember to avoid tanning beds and tanning in general. Tan skin is sun damaged skin which eventually results in wrinkles and skin cancer.
